The Lightning season ended without much fanfare this weekend. Making the playoffs in their first season was a great accomplishment and having a respectable playoff run bodes well for the future. The Lightning played a great game Friday night as they took on arch rivals the Affton Americans. After going down 2 -0 the Lightning fought back and took the lead before allowing the tieing and go ahead goals in the 3rd. 4-3

LIGHTNING SWEEP LEAFS AND CLINCH PLAYOFF BERTH!!

The Lightning went into the weekend needing a win and a tie to secure a playoff berth in their inaugural year. Not only did they get a playoff berth they also took two from the Leaf''s and moved into the 7th playoff spot. The Lightning totally dominated the Leafs using their speed and quickness. Stellar goaltending by #1 Stu Scott gave the Lightning the confidence to concentrate on scoring. And scoring they did racking up 9 goals in the two game series. LIGHTNING SPLIT WITH SKOKIE, GET TWO HUGE POINTS!!

The Lightning went to Skokie this past weekend with hopes of maybe getting a point. Instead they beat Skokie 3-2 the first game and picked up 2 points in the win. Scoring came from #55 Derrick Brown, #7 Chad Boeckman and #89 Chris Chappell with asst's to #17Larry Howe, #9 Jason Whitt and #14 Mike Rieger. The 2nd game was a close game riddled with penalties. The Ref called a combine total of 22 penalties which left the game to special teams.
